So begins the story of one of the most distinguished Prophets of Israel, Samuel. It begins with the loving account of Hannah and Elkanah, the Ephraimite. From bitterness of infertility, comes deliverance in the form of a son. He is named Samuel and his parent gives him to the Lord in service.
We also read of the evil sons of the priest Eli. A reminder that those who grow up within the temple do not necessary imbibe or retain the values of the temple.
