Genesis 19-21

Sodom and Gomorah gets destroyed...then Lot's daughters commit incest with their father, giving reasons for the Jews to look down upon the Moabites (Moab = of the father) and Ammonites (Ben Ammi = child of incest). These were kingdoms (modern day Jordan) east of the later kingdoms of Israel and Judah.

Then another funny story of Abraham passing his wife off as his sister. Even more odd now that Sarah is like about 90.....

Then Issac is conceived and born, resulting in Ishmael getting thrown out of the tribe. But he doesn't do too badly on his own as God promises he will be a great nation.

Read somewhere,
"You can take the daughters out of Sodom, but you can't take 'sodom' out of the daughters." Hee!

Their acts of incest, gave birth not to two children, but two kingdoms, which beacame long-standing enemies of Israel.
So if we know that our acts may have perennial consequences, will we stop and think before we act? A good and relevant example is parenting -how we deal with our children today will affect the ways they deal with theirs, and that passes down to the next generation, and so on. We should think about what legacy we are leaving behind for our next generation.
