From Noah to Abraham.
We are all descended from Mrs Noah, yet we do not know her name....isn't that strange?
Subsequently Noah's 3 sons went forth and populated the world apparently accounting for major population groups - Ham (palestinian, egyptian, african), Shem (semitic), Japheth (indo-european, caucasian).
But then, where did the Chinese or mongoloid races come from? Or the polynesians? The bible is silent with respect to anything east of eurasia.

1. So were men meant to be vegetarians prior to Gen 9:3?
2. I have always been against capital punishment, but now I know that capital punishment for murder was already instituted in the bile so early on. Gen 9:6. Sigh.
3. Apparently, while there were many tales of floods, some even older than Noah’s account, yet none of them feature a covenant between God and men. Gen 9:12.
4. Noah was drunk so soon after the flood. Didnt he learnt anything from being in the ark for more than a year? Sigh again.
5. Was the story of the tower of babel pure myth as mentioned by Barthel in his book, "Whatthe bible really says" ( a must read, by the way). Was it merely another ziggurat?
1. It sure sounds that way...although clearly Cain and Abel weren't vegans, so 9:3 may not mean what it sounds like.Unless Noah and family were compelled to be vegans while on the ark....:)...can't be eating all the nicely paired last surviving animals.
2. Seems like it.I don't really have a problem with it as I have never felt it was a biblical principle to preserve life at all costs. However, 9:6 is very strong against the taking of human life, as compared to the 10 commandments which is specifically directed against murder (so excludes euthanasia etc)
3. Yep...funny as it was pointed out somewhere else that the covenant is about destruction by water. So destruction by fire not included in the contract.
4. Maybe that was how he passed the time in the ark...? hehheh...I imagine would have been a very stressful experience.
5. hee...donno...haven't read the book. Are you sitting on it? The ziggurats aren't very high by the way, so it doesn't exclude an earlier taller version which might have been the priginal T of B.
On the issue of Chinese origins, here is an interesting account....I can't vouch for it's factual truth, but it presents an interesting perspective:

and an alternative view:

There are many similarities between the biblical account of the flood and Chinese Mythology.

The names of the 3 legendary emperors Shen Nung (Shem) Fuxi (Japheth)
