A long reading through 4 Chapters. Without doubt the most interesting passage is in Chaper 17:
14 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you and have taken possession of it and settled in it, and you say, "Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us," 15 be sure to appoint over you the king the LORD your God chooses.
Here the implication is that God has already provided for the means by which the Israelites can appoint a King. There should therefore be no surprise when the Israelites exercise that option! (see 1 Samuel 8). Alternatively, the section might have been written much later during a time when there was already a king. :)
