Chapter 8 deals with the purification of the Levites. Of interest is the section on compulsory retirement at 50. (I think it is time for me to retire as worship leader!!)
23 The LORD said to Moses, 24 "This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years old or more shall come to take part in the work at the Tent of Meeting, 25 but at the age of fifty, they must retire from their regular service and work no longer. 26 They may assist their brothers in performing their duties at the Tent of Meeting, but they themselves must not do the work. This, then, is how you are to assign the responsibilities of the Levites."
Chapter 9 describes the first Passover celebration.
Then YHWH leads the Israelites from Sinai to the desert of Paran. Where this is is uncertain but people (wikipedia) thinks it is the desert north of the Gulf of Aqaba....which is the the wilderness surrounding the Jordan river and occupying the region straddling S Israel and S Jordan (a bit west of Wadi Rum, where we visited recently)
