Numbers 16-17

Almost expected, a rebellion breaks out from among the Israelites. This is headed by a young Levite, Korah. In response, Moses 'pengsan'! We don't really know if he did so in desperation, submission or dejection, but correctly, instead of taking matters into his own hands, defers the matter to YHWH. This is afterall a rebellion, not against him and Aaron, but a rebellion against YHWH.

YHWH steps in and threatens to destroy them. Moses attempts to intercede again but this time is unsuccessful. YHWH swallows the rebels up in what appears to be an earthquake .

Then YHWH gets Moses to organize a public demonstration of His selection of a leader for the priesthood. The 'almond staff' test clearly show that Aaron was YHWH's choice. This despite Aaron's rather pathetic leadership record.

For me this is a lesson of sorts. Often we tend to grumble against our appointed leaders for all kinds of perceived inadequacies, and we often forget that they have been appointed by God. But God sees things we do not, and He has His plans which we do not readily comprehend. We are to submit to His appointed leader. This requires maturity, strength, wisdom....and faith.

Yes... I agree!!! GOD always has a reason why HE appointed this person to be a pastor or leader. Although it may not be easy at times to show respect & obedience to HIS appointed ones esp some of them are really very "irritating" :P BUT we must always rem if we defile this person we are defiling GOD. Therefore, let this be a small reminder to us. :)))
